Over the past 2 months we've been working with San Bernardino County, California ABC, and Federal TTB organizations to establish Meyer Manor Wine as a licensed and bonded Estate Winery! Unfortunately, this process takes a massive amount of time and money. Federal TTB LicensingOur most recent hiccup came in the from the Federal TTB requiring that we have a mostly completed and functioning stand-alone winery built and equipped. While this doesn't sound too unreasonable, it does mean that we have to build and equip winery facilities completely separate and distinct from the other buildings on the estate all while NOT being able to sell our wine. What a pain! Don't worry, this will not stop us. California ABCThe California ABC will not talk to us until both the Federal TTB and county permitting is complete. So who knows still! San Bernardino CountySan Bernardino County has been very helpful in answering all of our questions. We are currently in the process and hope to soon be receiving permission on the county level.
We are also in contact with the Health Department as we begin making equipment purchases.

Well-House CompletedLots of change this last month! The Well House is complete, including electric-powered irrigation and smart timers. We've left plenty of room for growth, at least through 2024. This Well House was custom built by ShedWorld, a local shed costruction company, to accomodate our well and gardening tools in one package. They did an excellent job and we will likely be returning to them for our 2000 sqft winery construction planned for end of 2022. Solar InstalledWe may have gone a little overboard with 16-17 kW solar and over 60kWh of battery backup. Electricity is important and it's our job to use it responsibly. This solar system is designed to support the wells, pumps, controls, and our own day-to-day life in a single system--with or without the grid! Not only does our comfort depend on having electricity, our very survival in our own little piece of earth depends on it. All of our water, heat, cooling, and even transportation (yes, we drive electric cars) will be fueled in-house! Tesla has been great by offering us not only great deals, but sustainable solutions that are purpose-built for the unique lifestyle we've begun. Zinfandel planted from rows 1 through 25!You've already seen plenty of rows 1 through 25, but here's the actual start--vines! These 1-year Zinfandel saplings are in the ground and happy. Thank you so much to Nate's Nursery for helping us get what we need so far from traditional "wine country". Nate has been outstanding and very helpful!
350 Zinfandel Vines are scheduled to be planted late winter! The trellis is already under construction and the well house is beginning construction next week. Lots of exciting new developments. |
